Release Notes

What's new and fixed in each version of WebHaste, newest first.

To see which version you're running, open ⚙️ Site Admin ▾ → ℹ️ About WebHaste. Chrome updates the extension automatically, so you'll normally be on the latest version within a day or so of its release; if you want it sooner, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and click Update.

Version 0.6.3 October 6, 2026

  • New: a </> Code toolbar button wraps the selected text in <code>. Click inside existing code to remove it. See Editor Tips.
  • New: an ⚓ Anchor toolbar button sets an ID on the paragraph or heading you're in, so links can jump to it. The Link dialog suggests the page's IDs as #id entries.
  • New: ℹ️ About WebHaste in the Site Admin menu shows the installed version and links here.
  • New: switching projects logs a "Switched project to …" line in the status bar history.
  • Improved: the status bar resets to "✅ Ready..." when you switch projects instead of showing the previous site's last message.
  • Improved: links inside dialogs use light colors that are readable on the dark theme.
  • Fixed: dragging the editor/preview divider to the right could get stuck when the pointer moved over the preview. It now follows the pointer reliably.
  • Fixed: headless rendering (.webhaste/compose.js --out …) no longer treats the deploy folder as source pages.
  • Fixed: new projects' .gitignore now ignores .webhaste/backups/.

Version 0.6.2October 4, 2026

  • New: Lists fire a cs-list-rendered event after rendering, for scripts that enhance the output (for example DataTables).
  • Fixed: the DataTables recipe now works in Packaged builds.
  • Fixed: the toolbar logo no longer grows too wide.
  • Fixed: the extension package no longer contains more than one manifest.json, which the Chrome Web Store rejects.

Version 0.6.1 October 3, 2026

  • New: versioned agent skills. Projects get a building-webhaste-site skill (plus new ones) that is refreshed when WebHaste updates, without overwriting files you've edited. See Using AI Tools.
  • Fixed: Packaged builds: search, animation and List data no longer breaks a page whose text contains </script>.
  • Fixed: Packaged builds: links to List entries and extensionless links such as /blog/my-post now point at the real .html files.

  • New: optional Templates / Styles / Scripts tabs for editing those files in code view, with live preview of template and stylesheet changes. See Editing Templates, Styles and Scripts.
  • New: the live preview keeps its scroll position as you type.

  • New: Lists have a "Remove all" button for entries.
  • Fixed: Lists no longer leave a placeholder class behind on rendered output.

  • New: Lists can display as a table, can be imported and exported, and entries can be sorted by dragging a handle.
  • Fixed: a false "changed elsewhere" warning while editing in Code view.

  • New: Lists for structured, repeatable content such as blog indexes, directories and price lists.

Version 0.4.0 September 24, 2026

  • New: Redirects: 301/302 rules that work on Cloudflare Pages and Netlify.
  • New: link checking. The Menu editor flags broken internal links as you type, and Check Links scans the whole site.
  • New: the toolbar's Site Admin dropdown brings Site Settings, Menus, Redirects and Check Links together in one place.
  • Fixed: redirects now take effect when publishing to Cloudflare Pages.

Version 0.3.3 September 21, 2026

  • New: interface updates, including tweaks to colors and button hover styles.
  • Fixed: Google Sans now ships inside the extension, so WebHaste no longer makes an external call to Google Fonts.

Version 0.3.2 September 18, 2026

  • New: editor support and front-end JavaScript for displaying Lottie animations.
  • New: schema markup for site homepages, in Organization or LocalBusiness variants. See SEO and Search Engines.
  • New: a Max Size option in Site Settings. Images larger than 1920px on their longest edge (or whatever value you set) are resized on upload. See Images and Assets.
  • Fixed: locked editor blocks now have a mask that prevents errant clicks.
  • Fixed: the agent instructions (SKILL.md and CLAUDE.md) now document the assets/, elements/ and scripts/ folder structure more clearly.

  • New: per-page header scripts, plus Open Graph and Twitter Card tags. See Page Properties.
  • Fixed: clearer wording in the Deployment dropdown.

  • New: HTML tables, editable directly in Visual view. See Editor Tips.
  • New: better scrubbing of pasted content.

  • New: a hide/show toggle for the preview pane, so the editor can use most of the screen on smaller devices.
  • New: search markup is included by default in simple-layout.html.
  • New: styles.css is now scaffolded by default and includes starter CSS for the search box.
  • New: more emojis in the editor.
  • Fixed: added the viewport tag to simple-layout.html to fix mobile display.

  • New: a special characters and emoji dialog with commonly used characters.
  • New: lock a div or block against edits in the editor pane.

Version 0.2.1 August 27, 2026

  • New: Page Properties has a Template dropdown that overrides the site-wide template, useful for blogs and section-specific pages.
  • New: the page sidebar shows green or gold when a page has not been published or has been modified since.
  • New: .webhaste/publish-state.json tracks each page's publishing status.
  • New: the file list, editor and preview panes can be resized by dragging.
  • Fixed: duplicate entries in the Recent Projects list.

Version 0.2.0 August 24, 2026

  • New: a site search index is generated when you publish, and WebHaste scaffolds lunr.js and search.js for the front-end search box. See Adding Site Search.
  • New: Page Properties can exclude a page from site search or sitemap.xml, or render it with a noindex tag.
  • Fixed: documentation and CLAUDE.md updated for the search feature.

  • New: Tailwind CSS support when a project is scaffolded.

  • New: robots.txt and 404.html are now scaffolded and deployed by default.
  • Fixed: significant refactors to the compose and editor scripts.
  • Fixed: deployment credentials were lost when switching between projects.

Version 0.1.1 August 10, 2026

  • New: language localization for entire sites and individual pages, including a {lang} template token.
  • New: remove or edit existing links in the editor.
  • Fixed: scaffolded projects no longer include CSS libraries automatically. Templates now reference a framework through a CDN link you add yourself, which addresses a Google policy issue.
